Sainsbury's is on target to be "great again", following its recent results, which showed like-for-like sales (excluding fuel) up 3.9%.
The company has exceeded its growth target in the 52 weeks to March 2008 of £2.5bn, recording sales growth of £2.7bn. It also had 13 quarters of consecutive like-for-like sales growth.
Chairman Philip Hampton said: "This year has been significant, since it marked the completion of the Making Sainsbury's Great Again recovery plan. It is a credit to the management team that our performance was delivered against a backdrop of speculation concerning the potential takeover of the company."
