Unilever has opened a twin-sited research centre it's calling the Centre for Excellence - Ice Foods to bring more innovation to ice cream, despite the fact it recently reported Magnum sales "soaring" in the good weather.
The centre is based in Colworth Science Park in Bedfordshire, and also in Caivano in Italy, and is the result of a two-year rationalisation of Unilever's ice cream facilities. The dual 'centre' brings together its global ice cream expertise to work on new ranges.
The centre has a total of 130 staff. It is the third of six centres of excellences Unilever has opened as part of its centralisation strategy.
