The Co-operative recently introduced 17 new own-label fish lines on to its shelves for the summer season, including four premium products.
The new Truly Irresistible Tuna Loin Steaks are ideal for the barbecue. Line-caught in the Indian Ocean, the yellowfin steaks are great summer eating. The Truly Irresistible Ready-To-Eat Jumbo King Prawns are also just right for eating al fresco. Also perfect for the barbecue and a great alternative to beefburgers are the new Truly Irresistible Scottish Freedom Food Salmon Burgers. Smoked and fresh salmon is combined with coriander and lemon zest to create the burgers.
Further afield, Icelandic line-caught Truly Irresistible Cod Loins are tender and ideal for pan-frying.
Also among the range are two new ready-to-eat mackerel products, caught off the west coast of Scotland. The mackerel is smoked for a rich, full flavour and the peppered variety features crushed black peppercorns. Both add to the existing ready-to-eat fish range, which also contains hot smoked trout and honey roast salmon, and are perfect for a quick healthy summer lunch or posh picnic.
The Co-op's new fishcakes are great for a quick-but-healthy supper. The Scottish farmed salmon fishcakes are flavoured with fresh lemon and dill and are ideal with a green salad. The MSC-accredited pollock fishcakes have been flavoured with lemon and parsley and are fabulous with chips and mushy peas.
