Co-operative rolls out the green rPET

The Co-operative has scored another green hit, claiming to be the first UK retailer to roll out 100% rPET (recycled) bottles across its entire own-brand range of carbonated drinks and mixers.
The Co-op is working in partnership with supplier The Silver Spring Mineral Water Company. The initiative will reduce CO2 emissions by 1,212 tonnes and save 808 tonnes of new plastic being made per year.
The bottles are fully recyclable and can be collected and recycled with regular PET bottles. The Co-operative said it hoped to eventually roll out rPET bottles across its entire own-brand beverage range where PET bottles are used.
