Waitrose's new Delicatezze range, launched this summer, enables customers to treat their guests to a fabulous range of light summer appetisers. Influenced heavily by the "fresh flavours and relaxed outdoor eating of the Mediterranean", the range includes more than 30 varieties of nibbles and is intended to be mixed and matched.
Perfect for sharing with friends while lounging about in the garden, or with a takeaway in front of the telly, the range includes mouthwatering munchies for picnics or lunch such as Pancetta & Gruyere Flame, Chorizo, Potato & Sweet Pepper Tortilla, Herb Dressed Chicken Kebabs, Pork & Apricot Meatballs, Butternut & Sweet Potato Dip, Sardine Stuffed Cherry Peppers, Adriatic Anchovies with Braised Fennel. For evenings in, there are Carrot Falafels, Polenta Cakes with Olive Vierge, and Seafood Salad, to name but three. And for afternoons in the garden, maybe Spinach & Feta Pyramid Pastries, or Pepperonata with Squid & Octopus?
Waitrose chilled prepared food buyer David Stone says the range was inspired by the joy of trying new foods while travelling: "I enjoy trying new foods when I travel and I've always liked the relaxed way of eating you find right across the Mediterranean region."
He says the range, some of which was created by chef Silvena Rowe, aims to recreate that, "with lots of little dishes to share".
